This restored 1931 Model A Ford Station Wagon was shown in the 2019 Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance. It was presented in Class P - Vintage Trucks and Wagons: 1920 - 1960.
During this period of time, rapid transportation in America was primarily provided by railroads. As passengers arrived at their final train stations, vehicles were used to transport cargo as well as people to their final destinations. The vehicles were called Station Wagons.
This Model A Ford Station Wagon comes with a host of accessories including canvas side curtains, a driver-side single side-mount tire, driver side-view mirror, upgraded door handles, exhaust turn-down, and a storage box under the rear seats for the side curtains when not used.
This restored 1931 Model A Ford Station Wagon is a genuine wagon, not a re-body. It is painted in Manila Brown, which was the only choice in 1931, and contrasts well with the Maplewood and Birchwood materials used for the body and basic structure of the vehicle. Original wood comprises more than 60% of the vehicle. Original front door hinges and the cowl that is a correct multi-piece original add to the originally of the vehicle.
Inside, the black leatherette seats feature original frames with new seat covers that match the originals in fit and specifications. Rubber floor mats front and rear were standard equipment for ease of maintenance, and this vehicle retains the three rows of seats.
Ford’s reliable and torqued four-cylinder engine has been restored to original specifications throughout. This vehicle runs like new with the correct Zenith carburetor and filter, the original style ignition system complete with flat copper plug leads. The original style water pump, 2 blade fan, rebuilt generator and starter add to the originality.
All and all, this 1931 Woody Station Wagon has to be one of the best Model A’s anywhere.
