This restored 1931 Model A Ford Roadster Pickup Truck was shown in the 2018 Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance. It was presented in Class P - Vintage Trucks and Wagons: 1920 - 1960.
The late 1920’s through the 1930’s was the beginning of a new era for America. It was the beginning of a love affair with pickup trucks. The Ford Motor Company has long held the distinction of building the best-selling trucks in America. The 1931 Model A Ford Roadster Pickup brought a passenger-car style and some new features to the market.
This 1931 pickup truck was the final year for the Model A roadster pickup. This vintage car has had a frame-off restoration. It is equipped with the standard 4-cylinder 40 HP engine with a 3-speed manual transmission. It has many deluxe options installed: cowl lights, cab flashlight, side curtains, dual fender mounted spare tires, and radiator grill screen. The restoration included a correct-style interior and ah-oo-ga horn. Painted in Manila Brown with black fenders and wood bed flooring this truck has to be one of the best Model A’s around. Notice an original 1931 Florida truck license plate on the light crossbar!
The Model A, in all of the variants available in its four year production span – which are grouped by aficionados into early (1928 – ‘29) and late (1930 – ’31) cars and trucks – remains one of the most popular antique automobiles, and its level of restoration and parts support, 80 + years since it rolled off the assembly line, is better than ever.
